Allergy causing flowers |
|
Allergies are disorders of the immune system that result in an overreaction to substances called "allergens." These allergens can get into our body in several ways. The capacity to become allergic is often hereditary. Many people are allergic to the pollen particles discharged by some flowers.
Pollen from roses and many other fragrant, colorful flowers tends to be heavy, waxy, and sticky, to lessen their chances of being borne by the wind. Instead, insects transport pollen from flower to flower. So allergies to these flowers are relatively uncommon. Florists, gardeners or those associated with these flowers for an extensive time can be affected by them though. However, if your pollen allergies are particularly severe, most flowers are going to affect you negatively.
Lilies spell danger for allergy sufferers, as they come with powdery orange pollen. Ironically, however, it's easy to simply remove the stems of pollen from each flower to make them the safest flower for allergy sufferers! Small flowers with faded colors are bigger culprits than large, brightly-colored flowers when it comes to causing allergies. Off-white and greenish-colored flowers cause more allergies than all the other flower colors combined. Trumpet-shaped flowers are generally not allergy causing flowers because their pollen is held deep within the flower. Fragrant plants don't produce as many pollen allergies, but they may cause an allergic reaction in people who are sensitive to certain scents.
Some of the allergy causing flowers are:
- Dandelions: They abound in Spring (and in all suitable temperatures) and utterly frustrates those who take great pains to maintain their beautiful gardens, as it is considered to be in the category of garden weeds. Once the flower has bloomed, the head closes, and opens when the seeds mature to be dispersed by the wind. They are much more significant for veterinary allergy and are more dangerous for dogs than for humans.
- Ox-eye daisy, which is found in abundance in temperate Eurasia and most of North America, is an allergy causing flower. It is made up of 15 to 35 white ray flowers (petals) circling hundreds of yellow disc flowers. They may cause both inhalant and contact energy.

- The sunflower is quite a common flower which grows even without much care. They are a favorite with many people for their brightness.
However, they are dangerous for people who may be allergic to the pollen and/or the seeds and they cause allergic rashes to some people when they come in contact with the foliage.
