Egg Allergy

Food allergy is a very common form of allergy. Different people show allergic reaction to various food items, and egg allergy is quite wide spreading. People who have egg allergy should be aware of what they are eating and what not they are eating. They should consciously avoid food items having eggs, and should read the food labels before buying a particular food item. The immune system of persons who have egg allergy, overreacts to egg proteins and consider egg items as harmful to the body.

The immune system of an allergic person reacts by creating an antibody like immunoglobulin E and the antibody releases chemicals like histamine into the person's body. The chemical release might affect the person's gastrointestinal tract, respiratory system, cardiovascular system and skin, giving rise to allergic symptoms like nausea, wheezing, stomach ache, headache, and itchy hives.

Like other food allergies, egg allergy too occurs within minutes to hours after the consumption of eggs or egg contained food. More often than not, allergic reactions last for less than a day and can affect the victims skin, the respiratory tract and the gastronomical tract. Various egg allergy symptoms are associated with these parts of the body system. If the egg allergy reactions are severe, an allergy specialist should be immediately contacted. Proper medication can solve the problem to a great extent.
