Baby Food Allergy is a quite a common allergic reaction that takes place when most infants are introduced to baby and solid foods. Like adults, infants can also be affected by food allergy problems. A baby suffering from Baby Food Allergy can be diagnosed by a child’s doctor, medical professional or allergist.
When a baby is allergic to any particular food, his/her body immune system will treat the food as if it’s an invader and IgE antibodies are produced. If the food is repeated, then the body’s immune system releases histamine for fighting against the invader. Thus allergies take place. Food allergies in babies can be diagnosed only after performing a blood test or skin prick test, as is prescribed by the doctor.
Symptoms of Baby Food Allergy
When the baby’s immune system releases histamines, allergy symptoms like itchy or watery red eyes, nausea, vomiting, excess wind, stuffy or runny nose, eczema or other skin rash, wheezing, and even in severe cases it leads to presence of blood in stools. Sometimes the allergic reactions can also be in the intestine that causes your child to suffer from diarrhea or cramps.
Prevention of Baby Food Allergy
For the caring mothers, we are offering a list of different precautionary methods that will help in protecting the baby from food allergy.

The precautions are as follows:
- Try to delay in giving solid or new foods to your baby until he/she is 6 months old. By this time, the baby’s immune and digestive systems will become stronger. This is more important if your baby is at higher risk of food allergies.
- Avoid giving your baby those foods that like trigger allergic reactions like egg, fish, seafood, peanuts, cashews, wheat, soya, citrus fruits and juices, honey, cow’s milk, certain medicinal syrups, etc.
- Follow the four day rule after you introduce each new food to your baby’s diet. In this way, you will detect which particular food is causing problems to your baby.
